<strong>The</strong> <strong>City</strong>/County Health Department collected data from four area hospitals: St. Anthony, OU<br />
Medical Center, Integris Southwest, and Integris Baptist. <strong>The</strong> costs these hospitals reported<br />
did not <strong>in</strong>clude costs that were reimbursed through Medicaid, private <strong>in</strong>surance or other<br />
means. Mercy Hospital was unable <strong>to</strong> participate due <strong>to</strong> a major change <strong>in</strong> their data system<br />
that co<strong>in</strong>cided only with the latter part <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Cost</strong> Study period. Data <strong>in</strong>cluded the number<br />
<strong>of</strong> visits for emergency services, <strong>in</strong>patient and outpatient care; the cost <strong>of</strong> each visit; age,<br />
race and gender <strong>of</strong> patients; and date <strong>of</strong> service. From this, we extracted the follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>in</strong>formation:<br />
