4.10.3. Effective ways to implement envir<strong>on</strong>mental c<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong> in corporate<br />

activities<br />

Beginning of 21st Century, human society has been threatened by much misc<strong>on</strong>duct by some vicious top<br />

management of large companies <strong>and</strong> climate changes by <strong>the</strong> global warming. In order to overcome all of<br />

<strong>the</strong> issues human society faces, <strong>the</strong> Corporate Social Resp<strong>on</strong>sibility has been introduced.<br />

Corporate social resp<strong>on</strong>sibility is c<strong>on</strong>sisted of following features:<br />

3. Risk Management<br />

4. Internal C<strong>on</strong>trol<br />

Envir<strong>on</strong>mental problems are now <strong>on</strong> a global scale, so we are facing an extremely serious situati<strong>on</strong>:<br />

global warming, <strong>the</strong> destructi<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> oz<strong>on</strong>e layer, acid rain, <strong>the</strong> polluti<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> oceans, <strong>the</strong> depleti<strong>on</strong> of<br />

tropical forests, desertificati<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> so <strong>on</strong>.<br />

We have an obligati<strong>on</strong> to pass <strong>on</strong> this irreplaceable earth to <strong>the</strong> children of <strong>the</strong> future in as beautiful<br />

c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong> as possible.<br />

Implementati<strong>on</strong> of c<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong> of envir<strong>on</strong>ment al<strong>on</strong>g with <strong>the</strong> corporate social resp<strong>on</strong>sibility is<br />

indispensable to administrate corporati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Introducti<strong>on</strong> of Crew 21, Mizuno envir<strong>on</strong>mental Activity<br />

It is necessary for us to take acti<strong>on</strong>s, starting with <strong>the</strong> most feasible <strong>on</strong>es, to protect <strong>and</strong> maintain<br />

sustainable natural envir<strong>on</strong>ment. To do so, Mizuno launched its “Crew 21” program in 1991, through<br />

which all our employees take part in envir<strong>on</strong>mental c<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong> activities. “Crew 21” is <strong>the</strong> acr<strong>on</strong>ym of<br />

“C<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong> of Resources <strong>and</strong> Envir<strong>on</strong>mental Wave 21”. Facing <strong>the</strong> 21st century, this company will<br />

shoulder its role as a crewmember of Spaceship Earth practicing activities that c<strong>on</strong>serve <strong>the</strong> envir<strong>on</strong>ment<br />

<strong>and</strong> resources under <strong>the</strong> title of Global Envir<strong>on</strong>ment c<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong> Activities. In 1999, we adopted<br />

Mizuno’s Envir<strong>on</strong>mental Policy, which has been in place <strong>and</strong> revised as necessary to enhance our<br />

envir<strong>on</strong>mental c<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong> activities.<br />

Mizuno celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2006, <strong>and</strong> this year <strong>the</strong> company intend to make a fresh start<br />

<strong>and</strong> take fur<strong>the</strong>r aggressive approaches in our envir<strong>on</strong>mental operati<strong>on</strong>s to make <strong>the</strong>ir next 100 years<br />

an even greater achievement. Representing all members of Mizuno Group, <strong>the</strong>y will do <strong>the</strong>ir utmost to<br />

advance envir<strong>on</strong>mental activities as a <strong>on</strong>e of <strong>the</strong> corporate citizen that is highly effective <strong>and</strong> appealing to<br />

sports world.<br />

The introductory part of “Crew 21”<br />

The envir<strong>on</strong>mental measures of spots equipment towards sustainable development are quite same as<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r sectors of <strong>the</strong> stakeholders. 3Rs, Reduce, Reuse <strong>and</strong> Recycle are <strong>the</strong> basic policy to save energy<br />

<strong>and</strong> resources as well as separati<strong>on</strong> of waste that leads to <strong>the</strong> Zero Emissi<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Policy<br />

Mizuno Corporati<strong>on</strong> promises to c<strong>on</strong>tinuously promote <strong>the</strong> challenges of <strong>the</strong> followings under <strong>the</strong> slogan<br />

of “Presenting a sound <strong>and</strong> healthy sports scene to people <strong>and</strong> to mo<strong>the</strong>r earth” as well as <strong>the</strong>y shall<br />

recognize that all of <strong>the</strong>ir corporate activities affects <strong>the</strong> envir<strong>on</strong>ment <strong>and</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tribute to <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong><br />

of <strong>the</strong> global <strong>and</strong> regi<strong>on</strong>al envir<strong>on</strong>ment.<br />

Mizuno Corporati<strong>on</strong> promises to:<br />

1. Work to improve envir<strong>on</strong>mental impacts <strong>and</strong> preventi<strong>on</strong> of polluti<strong>on</strong> in all of corporate activities.<br />

2. Set envir<strong>on</strong>mental objectives <strong>and</strong> targets in regard to <strong>the</strong> following items, will establish <strong>and</strong><br />

maintain <strong>the</strong> envir<strong>on</strong>mental management system, <strong>and</strong> will aim to achieve <strong>the</strong> objectives <strong>and</strong> targets<br />

by reviewing <strong>and</strong> improving <strong>the</strong>m periodically.<br />
