ORAU at a Glance As a consortium of major Ph.D.-granting academic institutions, Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) cultivates collaborative partnerships that enhance the scientific research and education enterprises of our nation. As a key strategic partner with UT-Battelle, ORAU helps to advance Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s and the nation’s scientific research endeavors by bringing together university faculty and students to collaborate at one of the world’s leading-edge research laboratories. A 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, ORAU’s largest contract is with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).
