NEW BUSINESS<br />
1. Readers Guide Changes (Secondary)<br />
To be discussed at a later date as we did not have the most current version at our<br />
meeting.<br />
2. WRTR Changes (5/6)<br />
In the spring of <strong>2004</strong>, we approved using a combination of WRTR and the Spelling<br />
Sourcebook. The 5/6 grade teachers are proposing dropping the WRTR for the higher<br />
spelling groups beginning with next school year. The reasoning for this proposal is that:<br />
1. If they have been at <strong>PACT</strong>, and had WRTR and are in the high group they don't need it.<br />
2. If they are new to <strong>PACT</strong>, they will not pick up much WRTR in the few weeks it's<br />
covered and don't need it if they are good spellers. 3. Since WRTR ends with 6 th grade, if<br />
they are spelling/writing well, why use it for this short time?<br />
This would not affect this school year, and would only be implemented for the higher<br />
groups in 5/6 next year.<br />
After discussion, we agreed to table this until Mr. DeBruyn and the Steering Committee<br />
have also looked at it.<br />
