50th Anniversa P I O J A N N U A L “Planning Today . . . Entertainment group Ashe Caribbean Ensemble, performs a lively number at the launch of the PIOJ’s 50th Anniversary celebrations held January 26, 2005 at the Knutsford Court Hotel. The PIOJ’s Chorale sings melodiously, at the Webster Memorial Church, on February 26, 2005. The occasion was the Church service which marked the 50th anniversary of the PIOJ. A cross-section of the PIOJ’s staff and Journalist at the Media Open House held on June 15, 2005 at the Institute’s Training Room. Mrs. Sheneico Allen Morgan, Library Assistant, hands out PIOJ’s brochures to a group of students from the Wolmers Girls’ High School at one of Institute’s island-wide displays, which was held from March 7–October 20, 2005. 30

Omar Davies, Minister of Finance and Planning, addresses the audience at the Conference on Economic and Social Development Planning, held November 23–24, 2005 at the Jamaica Conference Centre. Listening intently is Dr. Wesley Hughes, Director General of the PIOJ. Winners of the PIOJ Essay Competition Awards Ceremony stand proudly along with a few of the sponsors of the competition. Standing in front is ten-year old Daveena Swearing (centre), first place winner in the primary category from Seaview Gardens Primary and third place winner Geogea Golding, from Hayes Primary & Junior High School.
