Internationally, 68 percent of teleworkers say that the blurring of boundaries
between work and home life is the biggest downside to working at home: what might
be the next evolution for what has been called the ‘home-office’?
I think that to work at home is very interesting and comfortable if you are able to divide
yourself between work and family life. People must learn to have a time for working and
a time for being with the family, although I know it’s very difficult to do. It is especially
difficult if you work in a creative field, because inspiration can appear at any moment
and not just when you are sitting at your work table.

familiare sia il più grande svantaggio nel lavorare da
casa: quale potrebbe essere la prossima evoluzione per
quello che è stato chiamato ‘home-office’?
Penso che lavorare a casa sia molto interessante e
comodo se si è in grado di dividersi tra lavoro e vita
familiare. La gente deve imparare ad avere un tempo per
lavorare e un tempo per la famiglia, anche se so che è
molto difficile da fare, soprattutto se si lavora in un campo
creativo, perché l’ispirazione può apparire in qualsiasi
momento, non solo quando si è seduti al tavolo.

From what you can see, from your colleagues and peers, are we changing the attitude
toward spaces ‘dedicated to working’? Are we ready to develop a different approach
to our working standard?
We need to develop a new way of working, we need to move towards a more relaxed
approach to our daily work. It is very important to reduce the hours we dedicate to our
jobs, but to do so efficiently: fewer hours but concentrating more and leaving time for
leisure. We need to have the right equipment: tables, seating, lighting and healthy air
conditioning.
Stiamo cambiando l’atteggiamento verso i nostri spazi
di lavoro? Stiamo per elaborare un approccio diverso?
Dobbiamo certamente sviluppare un nuovo modo di
lavorare, dobbiamo andare verso un approccio più disteso
al lavoro quotidiano. E’ molto importante, riducendo le ore
di dedizione al nostro lavoro ma con efficacia: meno ore
ma con molta concentrazione e tempo per relax. Abbiamo
solo bisogno di avere la giusta attrezzatura: tavolo,
seduta, illuminazione, insonorizzazione e climatizzazione
sana.

lavorativi?

What is the general atmosphere in your studio, how do you ‘interpret’ your space?
What is the prevailing attitude on your work days?
As I explained before the general atmosphere in my studio comes from the way
people relate to each other: playing together, creating things that may last, talking
and laughing, exchanging comments and ideas, and above all knowing that we are
designing pieces for a partner with whom we share the same excellent communication
style we use within our workplace.

Come ho spiegato prima, l’atmosfera generale nel mio
studio nasce dal modo con cui le persone si relazionano
insieme, creando cose che potrebbero durare, parlando
e ridendo, scambiando commenti e idee. Soprattutto
sapendo che stiamo progettando per un partner con il
quale abbiamo la stessa comunicazione eccellente che
vive all’interno del nostro studio.
If there is one thing which defines the Jorge Pensi Design Studio’s
projects, it is their timelessness. Being one of the most prominent
Spanish designers and one of the first to work internationally, Jorge
Pensi has designed for a wide range of signature products, especially
in the contract and office segment. We asked him about the evolution
of working spaces, a point of view that he was happy to furnish us both

di Jorge Pensi, è la loro atemporalità.
Essendo uno dei designer spagnoli più
riconosciuti e uno dei primi ad aver lavorato
a livello internazionale, Jorge Pensi ha
firmato un’ampissima gamma di prodotti,
in particolare nel segmento contract e
ufficio. A lui abbiamo chiesto riguardo
all’evoluzione dei luoghi di lavoro, un
punto di vista che ci ha fornito sia come
professionista che sul piano personale.
