“Della’s Gift” is set at <strong>the</strong> beginning in <strong>the</strong> early 1900s, and is based on <strong>the</strong> O. Henry story, “The Gift<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Magi.” “Holy Night” is an original story by librettist Paul Woodruff, and imagines a story taking<br />

place in <strong>the</strong> same apartment 100 years later, at <strong>the</strong> beginning of <strong>the</strong> 21st century. Both operas deal with<br />

<strong>the</strong>mes of love and its trials.<br />
