Siófok
In every country, there is a town close to water, which collects the young folks, to help them
forget the monotonicity of the everydays. In Hungary this place is called Siófok. During the
day you can enjoy the water and the refreshing wind of the Balaton, but at night our way
leads out of the rooms, because the city starts to breathe after the sunset. Its long streets
full with bars and clubs help you to don’t worry about tomorrow.
Pécs
Pécs is the "borderless city" of Hungary which can be found in the south-western region of
the country approximately 200 kilometres far from Budapest. Pécs have always been a
multicultural city which is melting different values of the history of two thousand years. In
2007 Pécs was third, in 2008 it was second liveable city (The LivCom Awards) in the
category of cities between 75-200 thousand inhabitants. In 2010 Pécs was selected to be
the European Capital of Culture sharing the title together with Essen and Istanbul. After
receiving the title major renewal started in the city. Renewed public places, streets, squares
and neighbourhoods, new cultural centres, a concert hall, a new library and a cultural
quarter were designed. It was recently chosen by The New York Times as the 38th place to
visit in 2013 thanks to its lively atmosphere and modernity. Pécs is also a real university
city hosting the oldest university in Hungary with its 30,000 students.
Szigetvár
Szigetvár is small historical town 40 kilometres far from Pécs. It is famous about its
medieval castle which was built by the Turkish after they occupied the original one in 1566.
After some hours spent here with a visit and some traditional archery we are heading to the
local spa that is extremely visited by tourist and by those who want to take a rest from the
summer heat.
