The Caedmon Manuscript *

According to the Venerable Bede, Caedmon was a herdsman of Whitby who was inspired to sing the Bible stories.
Archbishop Ussher (d.1656) discovered this manuscript and attributed it to Caedmon and though it is now believed
that he was mistaken, it is still called the Caedmon manuscript. It consists of poems telling the Bible stories and is
illustrated with Saxon drawings of around 1100.
