Westminster Abbey Library Early Printed and Manuscript Music *<br />
1700 - 1800<br />
The majority of this collection is choral music. Much of the printed music is Italian, mostly of the 17 th century,<br />
including sacred works by Colona, Foggia, Gratiani and others. There is also a good collection of secular works,<br />
including works by Monteverdi and Ferretti. The manuscript music, which makes up a third of the series, is mostly<br />
from the 18 th century.<br />

Westminster Abbey Library Mediaeval Manuscript Collection *<br />
The library at Westminster Abbey contains a little known but important collection. The eleven illuminated<br />
manuscripts include the fine Liber Regalis of the Coronation book, the important missal of Abbot Nicholas Litlyngton<br />
dated 1386 and a 13 th century Bestiary.<br />

The Winchester Bible & The Cathedral Manuscript Collection *<br />

The library at Winchester features a number of notable manuscripts in addition to the 12 th century Winchester Bible,<br />
which has been filmed in color. These include a late 10 th century version of Bede‘s Historia and a beautiful early 12 th<br />
century manuscript of Augustine‘s Tractates on St. John‘s Gospel containing the Anathema, a curse on anyone who<br />
takes the book away from Winchester.<br />

A virtually unknown collection of manuscript material at Winchester College. Perhaps the most interesting is the<br />
Huntingford Diaries which provide a considerable series of reflections on life in the late 18 th century. There are<br />
manuscripts by Charles Dibdin, Thomas and Joseph Warton, Edward Young, Walter Raleigh, etc.<br />
