Handel, G.F. Original <strong>Manuscripts</strong> and Sketches of G.F. Handel *<br />
1685 - 1759<br />
After Handel‘s death, the majority of his Musick Books passed into the Royal ownership and are now in the British<br />
Library. The remainder were acquired by Lord Fitzwilliam and are reproduced here. The first nine volumes are<br />
mainly extracts from Handel‘s operas and oratorios, including Scipione, Rodelinda, Lotario, Ariodante and Imenso.<br />
Volumes 10 to 15 contain studies and extracts from published and unpublished works.<br />

The collection of ancient manuscripts at Gray‘s Inn is small but valuable. All manuscripts were in the possession of<br />
the Society as early as 1697, for they are all mentioned in the catalogi liborum manuscriptorum Angliae et Hiberniae,<br />
Oxford, 1697. All the works are in latin with the exception of Volumes 8 and 10 and part of Volume 12.<br />
