MISSION STATEMENT
We, the people of God, in the Parish of St. Bernadette,
understanding ourselves to be a part of the Universal
Church, have received the call of His son Jesus through
Baptism and Confirmation, to be His disciples and to
spread and promote the Kingdom of God in faith and
prayer through Christian worship, education, and
service. The Council, strengthened by the Holy Spirit,
and nourished by the Sacraments, attempts to listen to
the needs and furnish leadership to the people of St.
Bernadette. We do this to serve our God and to develop
in our parish, His presence as the source and cause of our
common Christian life and holiness.

Baptisms are not usually celebrated during Lent.
SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY:
Registered Parishioners should make arrangements with
the priest of the parish as soon as you are seriously
contemplating marriage - at least six months prior to
the wedding. Weddings are strongly discouraged during
Lent and the Octave Easter.
Holy Orders and Consecrated Life (Religious)
Those who feel called to this life are invited to call the
Archdiocesan Office of Vocations at 314-792-6460 or
see the Parish Clergy.
COMMUNION CALLS:
Holy Communion is brought to the homebound of the
Parish. If you would like Holy Communion brought to
someone in your household, simply notify the Rectory
Office. Please inform the Rectory Office if a parishioner
is in the hospital or nursing home.
PRAYER NETWORK:
Prayer Works! Parishioners are ready to pray for those
in need. Ask and it shall be given to you.

“Senior Day at the Ballpark.” We have seats in the
Field Boxes (on the ground level.) The cost is $39.00.
This is our meeting night and a vote was taken by the
board that this may be too much in one day, so our
monthly meeting will be held at our dinner at
“Two Hearts Banquet Center” on September 28th.

Stewardship News:
20th Sunday of Ordinary Time
“For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.”
ROMANS 11:29
God has a special mission in mind for each of us
and He has given us the gifts that we need to
accomplish that mission. We are called to be good
stewards by using the gifts that God has given us to do
the work that God has planned for us alone. If we deny
our gifts or fail to use them as God calls us to use
them, then some part of God’s work will be left
undone.
Some Moving Thoughts
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trial to make you strong, enough sorry to
keep you human, and enough hope to make you
happy
Always put yourself in others’ shoes. If you feel
that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person,
too.
When the door of happiness closes, another opens,
but often times we look so long at the closed door
that we don’t see the one which has been opened for
us.
When you were born, you were crying and
everyone around you was smiling. Live your
life so that when you die, you’re the one who
is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
