Advanced Engineering Plastics for Elevated Temperature Range
Fluorosint ®
Polytetrafl uoroethylene [PTFE]
The Fluorosint family of materials comprises several enhanced PTFE materials developed to fi ll the
performance gaps where unfi lled and low-tech, fi lled PTFE based polymers underperform. Each Fluorosint
grade was specifi cally developed to excel in demanding bearing and seal applications. While all of the
Fluorosint grades possess the chemical resistance and compliance of PTFE, each grade offers some special
benefi ts that give the designer clear performance advantages.
Main Characteristics
Very high maximum allowable service temperature in air [260 °C continuously]
Moderate mechanical strength and stiffness
Good dimensional stability
Excellent chemical and hydrolysis resistance
Low deformation under load [particularly Fluorosint MT-01]
Low coeffi cient of friction and good wear resistance
Outstanding UV- and weather resistance
Physiologically inert [Fluorosint 207 and HPV have a food contact compliant composition]
Inherent low fl ammability
Applications
High performance bearings, bushings and seals where higher loads and minimal wear are required.
