The Mere alongside the Castle is managed by Suffolk Wildlife Trust and a circular footpath enables visitors to appreciate the abundance of wild flowers and wildlife. The Town Trail, available through TIC’s, is a great way of finding out more about the town’s history and interesting buildings. In 2006, 'Country Life' magazine voted Framlingham the number one place to live in the country and came runner up in 2005’s contest to find Englands Favourite Market Town. The award winning Shawsgate Vineyard nearby offers winetasting, tours and a childrens play area with a retail outlet selling their wide range of wines, ciders and non-alcoholic grape juices. The award winning farm attraction, Easton Farm Park, offers a unique experience for children with the chance to hug-a-bunny, feed the goats or take a horse and carriage ride with one of the Suffolk Punch horses. 10
...AN ATTRACTIVE & HISTORIC RIVERSIDE TOWN Choose Woodbridge for its history, picturesque views and welcoming atmosphere. Nestling near the head of the tidal reaches of the River Deben, Woodbridge has been chosen as an ideal place for a settlement for over 1200 years. This location is still highly sought after. The Elizabethan Shire Hall houses a museum celebrating the Suffolk Punch Horse and the local history museum. Other landmark sights include the much-photographed historic Tide Mill and Buttrum's Windmill. Across the river is the Anglo-Saxon burial ground of Sutton Hoo operated by the National Trust. During the summer months all these attractions are linked by an open top bus service on Thursdays and Saturdays. Once you are in Woodbridge there are a host of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants to visit, all serving things that are just that little bit different from anywhere else.
