ALL I EVER WANTED
THURSDAY 30 SEPTEMBER AT 7:15PM & FRIDAY 1 OCTOBER AT 2:30PM
In December 2009 the Airborne Toxic Event played a special
homecoming show at LA’s Walt Disney Concert Hall. Part
documentary and part concert film, this chronicles the journey
leading up to this sensational one-off show, and how it became
not only a truly extraordinary gig, but also a celebration of LA’s
musical culture. Known for their epic performances, the band
are augmented here by a number of guests including the Calder
Quartet, a children’s choir and a high school marching band.
Their success has been predominantly organic, with news
spreading about them thanks to word of mouth. A rock band with
classical connotations, they garnered international recognition
with their breakout hit Sometime Around Midnight, which made
Radio 1 and the UK Top 40 without record label backing. There’s
a sense of urgency to their songs. Their lyrics tell of heartbreak,
loss and the dark places we’ve all found ourselves, but there’s an
undeniable sense of euphoria in their music, and their live shows
are nothing short of joyous.
These musicians are more than just a band; they are a lifeaffirming
experience, and are beautifully captured at their
pinnacle. If you know them, chances are you already love them.
If you don’t, this is your chance to see what the fuss is about. CP
