Fun filled weekend getaway for YOU AND YOUR KIDS! Ollie (2A) Mei Mei (1A) and Janice Lin
will design a fun filled overnight weekend camp at Janice’s house for up to 6 children. Drop off
Saturday May 7 at 3 pm, pick up the next day (Sunday May 8) at 11 am. Camp activities include:
table tennis, hide and seek, arts and crafts, outdoor exploration, pajama dance party, kid-friendly
movie and a healthy dinner and breakfast. Restrictions: Please, no first timers (sleepover). Age
limited to 6-10 years olds only. Siblings within that age range are welcome! Please bring your
own pillow and sleeping bag, PJs, toothbrush and a change of clothes. Donated by: Janice Lin

At this virtual “Legoland” in Oakland, your child will enjoy separate play areas with Bionicles,
Lego Race Cars, and Lego Engineering with assorted contests and races to test your building
acumen! A concession stand will be on site with popcorn, pretzels, fruit and drinks. Parents
who would stay and help out would be a great thing! K-5 only. No free siblings. limit of 12 kids.

anything fancy? This is the party for you! We will demonstrate some of our favorite FAST and
SIMPLE Kid friendly meals. Leave with a full tummy after sampling our ideas and a list full of

904 4th Annual “Campout With Your Kids” ................................................................. Price: $75
The last three years of RDS camping have been a blast! Join us in making this year’s event even
better with this two-night outdoor camping adventure with your kids the weekend of October
7-9, 2011 at the beautiful Memorial Park in San Mateo County, just south of Half Moon Bay.
Our site is a beautiful group camping site located in a towering redwood forest close to hiking
trails and a kid-friendly swimming hole. Memorial Park Campground has amenities including
showers, flush toilets and a camp store. Your hosts (Chuck Bowes, Peter Mette, Gary Bresee and
Alan Chamorro) will provide all of the high-quality food and drinks you can consume and a big
bonfire (with plenty of s’mores of course!) each night - all you need to bring is your tent, sleeping
bags, personal gear and enthusiasm for the great outdoors. Date and time: Friday, October 7 - 9,

905 Family Movie & Sing-a-Long ................................................................................. Price: $20
Bring the whole family to watch and sing along with “The Wizard of Oz.” Under the guiding
hand of our very own Gina Ali, lower school music director extraordinaire, parents and kids will
gather in MS Multipurpose room, eat dinner and sing along to this timeless classic. Costumes
encouraged for all. This is not a “DROP OFF” event, at least one paid parent is required per group
of children. Limited to total of 60 children/parents. Date and time: Saturday, October 1, 2011

906 Kids in Space ....................................................................................................... Price: $400
This year, a small group of RDS students have the opportunity to develop and launch a payload
into space consisting of a video camera and a GPS unit which will be attached to a small weather
balloon. With the camera running, this simple spacecraft will carry it’s payload to an altitude
of 100,000 feet or more. At this altitude the curvature of the earth is prominent, and the view
above shows nothing but the sun, stars and the blackness of space. The reduced atmospheric
pressure will eventually cause the ballon to burst, the payload will fall back to earth, a parachute
will cushion it’s landing, and the GPS unit will guide the team to the recovery point.
