A project like this takes real planning, real engineering skills and flawless execution. With the
guidance of the RDS Kids In Space team of parents, the kids will take real responsibility for
making it happen. During a series of about six sessions this fall, they’ll be guided through a
series of projects exploring topics such as; impact mitigation, changes in air pressure, heat
exchange, 3D global positioning, vehicle construction, launch and recovery. Whether they succeed
or fail, this will be a unique learning experience that the kids will never forget. Each student will
receive a short DVD chronicling their efforts and the flight itself. This is the type of experience
they may even include on their high school and college applications. Limited to 8, third grade or
older (by fall 2011). Time and place TBD. Donated by: Ina Bendich, Matt Derby, Rick Jacobus,
Jeff Kowalski, Bob Krause, Partha Saha, Sean Van der Linden
