entertainment, DJ, musicians,<br />
artists, vendors, games for the kids,<br />
beer garden for the adults and more.<br />
Joshua Tree, California is an<br />
art community with galleries,<br />
specialty shops, restaurants and<br />
is a gateway to the Joshua Tree<br />
national Park. Joshua Tree is home<br />
of the Morongo Basin Cultural Arts<br />

GenerAl InFOrMATIOn<br />
What is Gay Pride? lGBT pride or<br />
gay pride is a message that lesbian,<br />
gay, bisexual, and transgender<br />
(lGBT) people should be proud<br />
of their sexual orientation and<br />
gender identity. The movement has<br />
historically three main premises:<br />
that people should be proud of<br />
their sexual orientation and gender<br />
identity, that diversity is a gift, and<br />
that sexual orientation and gender<br />
identity are inherent and cannot be<br />
intentionally altered.<br />
Joshua Tree Gay Pride Festival was<br />
created to also be about those that<br />
support their gay family members,<br />
neighbors and friends. A festival<br />
to bring all community together to<br />
show support and feel supported.<br />
It’s about acknowledging progress<br />
our communities are making locally<br />
and recognizing the progress we<br />
have made nationally and the world<br />
over.<br />
We know there is still a lot of work<br />
to do. It feels good that the majority<br />
of Americans now support equality.<br />
We also know that close to half<br />
of Americans still do not support<br />
equal rights for all people. There are<br />
many prejudices that gay people<br />
still face. Kids are still committing<br />
suicide caused by bullying, kicked<br />
out of their home, even beaten or<br />
killed for being gay. Still, we want<br />
this year to be about celebrating<br />
the progress and be thankful for<br />
the growing support. We want<br />
to celebrate progress while we<br />
continue to spread the message of<br />
the importance of equality. Please<br />
