Fundraising Accomplishments
Grants
For the first time in several years, Rock the Earth started to see a turnaround in
economic conditions as well as continued progress in our program work. As a result,
the organization began to show success in our grant initiatives and other fundraising
endeavors. RtE’s Development Committee submitted over a dozen grant proposals and
letters of interest for general organizational support as well as project-related funding.
Awarded grants help RtE advance its current and future environmental and education and
outreach agendas, and also result in increased recognition within the environmental and
grant communities.
January – December 2012 RtE submitted grant proposals to the following foundations,
organizations and corporations to fund program activities, offset operational expenses,
and provide for professional development and capacity building, as well as provide
funding in support of our annual Education and Outreach Tour: Padi Foundation, Jet Blue,
Singing for Change Foundation, Lauren Townsend Memorial Fund, Sprint, Patagonia,
Make Yourself Foundation, Stoneyfield Farms, Wolcott Family Foundation, Merck Family
Foundation, F. Allen & Louise K. Turner Foundation, and Cedar Tree Foundation.
January 2012 RtE received a $300 grant from the Anneta Argyres & James
Levenson Family Fund
March 2012 RtE received a $250 matching grant from the Clorox Company Foundation.
April 2012 RtE received a $5,000 grant from the Patagonia Foundation in relation
to their Patagonia Music Collective.

July 2012 RtE received a $1,105 grant from the Patagonia Foundation in relation to
a promotional contest for their new Moosejaw Mountaineering store in Boulder, CO.
August 2012 RtE received a $300 matching grant from the Texas Instruments
Foundation.
November 2012 RtE received a $4,070 grant from the East Tennessee Foundation.
RtE was one of five charities benefiting from the annual silent auction at the Bonnaroo
Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN.
December 2012 RtE received the following grants:
– $7,500 grant from the Patagonia Foundation in support of our Roan Plateau
litigation and education and outreach efforts.
– $1,000 grant from the F. Allen & Louise K. Turner Foundation in support of our
Delaware River Valley litigation and education and outreach efforts.
– $700 grant from the Aria Foundation on behalf of Bonnie Raitt.
– Notice of a $5,000 grant from the Wolcott Family Foundation in support of our
Roan Plateau litigation and education and outreach efforts.
RtE has once again, contracted with a professional grant-writer/consultant to develop
an ambitious grant-writing agenda for the coming year, and is optimistic for increased
success in awarded grants in 2013.
