Fundraising Accomplishments<br />
Grants<br />
For <strong>the</strong> first time in several years, <strong>Rock</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Earth</strong> started to see a turnaround in<br />
economic conditions as well as continued progress in our program work. As a result,<br />
<strong>the</strong> organization began to show success in our grant initiatives and o<strong>the</strong>r fundraising<br />
endeavors. RtE’s Development Committee submitted over a dozen grant proposals and<br />
letters of interest for general organizational support as well as project-related funding.<br />
Awarded grants help RtE advance its current and future environmental and education and<br />
outreach agendas, and also result in increased recognition within <strong>the</strong> environmental and<br />
grant communities.<br />
January – December 2012 RtE submitted grant proposals to <strong>the</strong> following foundations,<br />
organizations and corporations to fund program activities, offset operational expenses,<br />
and provide for professional development and capacity building, as well as provide<br />
funding in support of our annual Education and Outreach Tour: Padi Foundation, Jet Blue,<br />
Singing for Change Foundation, Lauren Townsend Memorial Fund, Sprint, Patagonia,<br />
Make Yourself Foundation, Stoneyfield Farms, Wolcott Family Foundation, Merck Family<br />
Foundation, F. Allen & Louise K. Turner Foundation, and Cedar Tree Foundation.<br />
January 2012 RtE received a $300 grant from <strong>the</strong> Anneta Argyres & James<br />
Levenson Family Fund<br />
March 2012 RtE received a $250 matching grant from <strong>the</strong> Clorox Company Foundation.<br />
April 2012 RtE received a $5,000 grant from <strong>the</strong> Patagonia Foundation in relation<br />
to <strong>the</strong>ir Patagonia Music Collective.<br />
Drilling at <strong>the</strong> base of <strong>the</strong> Roan Plateau (Colorado)<br />
July 2012 RtE received a $1,105 grant from <strong>the</strong> Patagonia Foundation in relation to<br />
a promotional contest for <strong>the</strong>ir new Moosejaw Mountaineering store in Boulder, CO.<br />
August 2012 RtE received a $300 matching grant from <strong>the</strong> Texas Instruments<br />
Foundation.<br />
November 2012 RtE received a $4,070 grant from <strong>the</strong> East Tennessee Foundation.<br />
RtE was one of five charities benefiting from <strong>the</strong> annual silent auction at <strong>the</strong> Bonnaroo<br />
Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN.<br />
December 2012 RtE received <strong>the</strong> following grants:<br />
– $7,500 grant from <strong>the</strong> Patagonia Foundation in support of our Roan Plateau<br />
litigation and education and outreach efforts.<br />
– $1,000 grant from <strong>the</strong> F. Allen & Louise K. Turner Foundation in support of our<br />
Delaware River Valley litigation and education and outreach efforts.<br />
– $700 grant from <strong>the</strong> Aria Foundation on behalf of Bonnie Raitt.<br />
– Notice of a $5,000 grant from <strong>the</strong> Wolcott Family Foundation in support of our<br />
Roan Plateau litigation and education and outreach efforts.<br />
RtE has once again, contracted with a professional grant-writer/consultant to develop<br />
an ambitious grant-writing agenda for <strong>the</strong> coming year, and is optimistic for increased<br />
success in awarded grants in 2013.<br />
