ROLLS-ROYCE SERVICE CENTRES
The site benefits from having direct access to
the waterfront for ease of access to the
nearby repair yards. Over 1,000m2 of well
equipped workshop and stores area mean
the new facility can handle the overhaul and
repair of a wide variety of Rolls-Royce
equipment, such as diesel and gas engines,
thrusters, steering gear and propellers. It also
has the specialist machining capability to
provide a range of marine equipment
including propeller blade polishing and root
machining.
By 2014, around 60 service engineers are
expected to be operating from Rolls-Royce
Poland facilities. The new Gdynia facility is
replacing the smaller service office located in
the city.
Germany – Hamburg. On September
9th 2011 the new service facility in the Port of
Hamburg, Germany, opened, marking the
latest stage in the development of a global
Marine Service Centre network comprising
dedicated repair facilities in 35 countries.
The new 1,100m2 facility serves a variety of
customers from Offshore, Merchant and
Naval sectors. Employing up to 70 people, it
handles the repair and overhaul of a wide
range of thrusters, propellers, steering gear
and winches. It also benefits from specialist
machining capabilities, allowing a wide range
of repairs to be undertaken in-house.
Martin Hall, Rolls-Royce Senior Vice President
Europe, Services, says: “Rolls-Royce has been
investing to expand its global marine service
network for several years. This latest worldclass
facility in Hamburg gives us a significant
presence in one of Europe’s main centres for
ship repairs, and one of the largest
commercial ports in the region.”
The facility is the new base for Rolls-Royce
Intering, which design and manufacture
tank-based stabilising and anti-heeling
systems. The new service centre brings
together personnel who used to be working
at three sites in the city, and replaces the
existing marine offices and workshops
located in the Hamburg Freeport Area and
northern suburbs.
The Rolls-Royce service centre
at Walvis Bay was formally
opened in April 2011. The port
also has two floating drydocks
to aid service work.
