Irish speakers<br />
Fifty one per cent of the population of Galway <strong>County</strong> could speak Irish <strong>in</strong> <strong>2011</strong> - the highest of any<br />
county as illustrated <strong>in</strong> figure 18. Clare (48.1%), North Tipperary (47.1%) and Limerick county (47%)<br />
were the next highest adm<strong>in</strong>istrative counties while Dubl<strong>in</strong> City (32.1%), South Dubl<strong>in</strong> (35.8%) and<br />
Louth (36.1%) had the lowest percentages.<br />
In <strong>Roscommon</strong>, 41.9 per cent of the population could speak Irish <strong>in</strong> <strong>2011</strong> – compared with 42.4 per cent<br />
<strong>in</strong> 2006.<br />
