To Our Beloved BHC Family,
So many of you have written expressing the inadequacy of
words at times such as that through which we are going right
now. Similarly, we cannot at all find language suitable for
conveying how much comfort we have drawn from the visits,
notes and calls with which you have reached out to us in these
past weeks.
Losing Mitch so suddenly has been a tragedy and a trauma
from which it is hard to imagine recovering. Nonetheless, we
have begun the first, hesitant steps along that road, supported
in great part by the encouragement and embrace of family
and friends. To you who watched Mitch grow, who traveled
with him through our three wonderful BHC schools and who
celebrated with our family the several simchahs shared during
our Baltimore years, including his Bar Mitzvah, we thank you
for sharing our happy memories of his warmth, enthusiasm
and loving kindness. You have returned these gifts to us in
full and they reconnect us to sacred fragments of the years we
spent there with him. While we may not be able to thank each
of you individually, please know that each of you has been
mal-akh, an angel of healing, as we rebuild our family life.

Book Burial
Rabbi Busch will accompany Religious School 7th grade students
to our Belair Road Cemetery on Sunday, April 3, 9:45 a m, where he
will lead them in a Genezia Ceremony. During the ceremony, old
books and ritual objects that have been collected all year will be
“laid to rest” with all the respect given to the burial of a person.
BHC Congregants who have items for burial can drop them at the
Temple Office by April 1.
Historically, the Genezia was usually a room attached to the
synagogue where books and ritual objects were buried when
they wore out and could no longer be used in the normal ritual.
Jewish people value learning as a highest priority and learning
is symbolized by the study of books. We bestow respect on this
primary source of knowledge during a book’s usable days and we
show respect when it deteriorates beyond use at a Genezia, or Book
Burial, ceremony.
Coffee with Clergy at North Oaks
BHC’s clergy will visit our North Oaks Congregants on Monday,
April 11, 3 p m.
Calling All High School Graduates
We encourage you to join your friends on Friday, April 15, 6:15
p m, for Shabbat worship as we honor and bless BHC Congregants
graduating from high school this spring. Following worship,
Rabbis Debbie Pine and Andrew Busch and family welcome you to

Shabbat Worship with Junior Congregation
Students in 1st through 6th grades are invited to join us in our
break-out Junior Congregation, Friday, April 8, 7 p m. With this
informal and engaging service, families begin together at Shabbat
worship, then students leave with clergy to have their own
service.
Spring Shred Event!
Bring all of your papers to BHC’s parking lot for our Shred Event
on Sunday, April 10, 12:30-2:30 p m. Mobile shredding trucks will
confidentially shred your paper. Bring up to four boxes of paper
and make a contribution of $5 or more per box. Sponsored by
Sisterhood.
Passover Seder
Join Rabbi Busch and Cantor Solomon for BHC’s Passover Seder on
the second night of Passover, Tuesday, April 19, 6 p m. Reservations
required. Cost: Members and family, adults $45, children 13 and
under $32. Non-members, adults $65, children 13 and under,
$40. Deadline for reservations is Friday, April 8. Mail check made

VOTE! The Life and Work of Sadie Crockin
VOTE! The Life and Work of Sadie Jacobs Crockin: 1879-1965
commemorates the 90th anniversary of the League of Women Voters
of Baltimore City. The exhibit, sponsored by Th e as s o c i aT e d and The
Jewish Museum of Maryland, is coming to BHC Monday, April
4-Monday, April 18. Don’t miss this historic exhibit about a woman,
an American, a Jew—Sadie Jacobs Crockin—who championed many
causes and empowered women together in civic organizations.

Organizations of Maryland.
Take a Walk on the Spiritual Side
“Take a Walk on the Spiritual Side” with Rabbi Sachs-Kohen and
fellow Congregants. Experience a Jewish connection with nature as
we hike and experience the power of the outdoors. Join us for the
one hour hike and Havdalah service on Saturday, April 23, 5:30 p m.
Wine and cheese to follow. Meet at the Visitors Center Deer Park
Road entrance of Soldiers Delight. Come rain or shine we’ll hike!
