Salzburg is easily accessible by air, train or car. ■ The Airport “Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart“ is four kilometers away from the city center (15 € by taxi, bus
lines 2 and 10) and is directly flown to from many major European cities and airlines
of the three major airline alliances. Short distances and optimal customer
service are the main characteristics of the
airport.
■ A reasonably priced travel option
is the RailJet train: non-stop
1 hour 20 minutes departing
every two hours
Berlin
Wien
from the Munich main
train station. Also operating
on the route
Munich-Salzburg
are the various
DeutschBahn Eurocity lines.
Salzburg has 150 000 inhabitants and many trips can be
done on foot or bicycle. The city has an extensive network
of cycle paths. ■ Otherwise, the Salzburger
Transport Association (SVV) is just the thing. The grid
is primarily oriented radially. The surrounding communi-
Istanbul
ties are accessible by
an extensive bus network.
The routes are
timed and are included in a
common fare system. Very useful
for smartphone users: The app
‘FahrInfo‘ is great to get around on the SVV:
Location “Current Location“ and enter the
destination then the app provides the best
connection. With the Salzburg Card you can
take the SVV for free in the city. ■ The Salzburg
Card is available for 1-3 days at 23 to 41 euros at hotel receptions or at the
Tourist Information offices at the main train station and Mozart Square. Included
are, for example, one-time admission to all museums, the funicular railway and
much more.
