The Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) (www.bzga.de) is<br />

an authority working in the portfolio of the Federal Ministry for Health in<br />

Germany, based in Cologne. It was established in 1967 as a governmental<br />

institute with the aim of preserving <strong>and</strong> promoting human health <strong>and</strong> was<br />

assigned the following tasks:<br />

• Development of principles <strong>and</strong> guidelines on the contents <strong>and</strong><br />

methods of health promotion, prevention <strong>and</strong> health education<br />

• Coordination <strong>and</strong> strenthening of health<br />

promotion <strong>and</strong> prevention in Germany<br />

• Planning, implementation <strong>and</strong> evaluation<br />

of prevention campaigns<br />

• Development <strong>and</strong> implementation of training<br />

programmes <strong>and</strong> instruments<br />

• International co-operation (WHO, EU).<br />

EuroHealthNet (www.eurohealthnet.eu) is a not for profit organisation<br />

networking public bodies working in the fields of health promotion, public<br />

health, disease prevention <strong>and</strong> health determinants – the factors behind<br />

good or ill health. EuroHealthNet comprises of national <strong>and</strong> regional<br />

bodies working on policy, research <strong>and</strong> implementation approaches which<br />

contribute to improving health, wellbeing <strong>and</strong> equity between <strong>and</strong> within<br />

all the countries that are members of or associated with the European<br />

Union.
