The extent of crime at Ports of Entry and Exit<br />

This indicator entails <strong>the</strong> number of illegal firearms recovered at ports of entry and exit, <strong>the</strong><br />

number of vehicles recovered, <strong>the</strong> value and quantity of drugs seized, and <strong>the</strong> value of illegal<br />

goods (e.g. fake items) and human smuggling. Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore, <strong>the</strong> indicator includes <strong>the</strong><br />

number of arrests <strong>for</strong> illegal firearms, stolen vehicles, drugs, illegal goods, human smuggling<br />

and trafficking (reported separately). The indicator is quantitative in nature and is aimed at<br />

providing results of functions per<strong>for</strong>med at borderlines.<br />

Priority crime rate in <strong>the</strong> railway environment<br />

This indicator relates to contact- and property crimes committed and <strong>the</strong> number of arrests<br />

made in <strong>the</strong> railway environment. A database on <strong>the</strong> occurrence of <strong>the</strong>se crimes within<br />

<strong>the</strong> railway environment has been developed to measure crime trends in different locations<br />

within <strong>the</strong> railway environment.<br />

Extent of compliance with institutional framework<br />

This indicator implies <strong>the</strong>:<br />

• number of key points evaluated in compliance with <strong>the</strong> National Key Points Act;<br />

• number of strategic installations appraised;<br />

• number of Institutional Security structures created (<strong>the</strong> establishment of relevant<br />

structures pertaining to physical security related matters); and<br />

• extent to which standards <strong>for</strong> physical security are set to sustain physical security in<br />

<strong>the</strong> strategic installations and national key points environments.<br />

Reporting Responsibility<br />

Protection and Security Services is responsible <strong>for</strong> ga<strong>the</strong>ring in<strong>for</strong>mation relating to <strong>the</strong><br />

above indicators on a quarterly and annual basis and will be measured only at national<br />

level.
