8. CONCLUSION<br />
The Annual Per<strong>for</strong>mance Plan of <strong>the</strong><br />
SAPS 2008 / 2009 is <strong>the</strong> National<br />
Commissioner’s one-year plan <strong>for</strong><br />
policing in <strong>South</strong> Africa. The Plan<br />
has been compiled to communicate<br />
<strong>the</strong> National Commissioner’s 1-year<br />
priorities to clients and <strong>for</strong> use as<br />
a planning guideline at all levels in<br />
SAPS. Provincial-, Divisional-, and<br />
Station Commissioners will select those<br />
elements of <strong>the</strong> Plan that are relevant<br />
to <strong>the</strong>m, add <strong>the</strong>ir own priorities and<br />
service delivery indicators and provide<br />
this in<strong>for</strong>mation as a guideline to those<br />
levels that fall under <strong>the</strong>ir jurisdiction.<br />
The successful implementation of<br />
<strong>the</strong> Plan is reliant on <strong>the</strong> compiling of<br />
relevant operational plans at all levels<br />
and <strong>the</strong> linking of <strong>the</strong>se operational<br />
plans with <strong>the</strong> mechanisms put in place<br />
to manage individual per<strong>for</strong>mance.
