One of the absolute best things about working in a magazine office is The Conversation. Chewing over the daily news,
the revelations, the empathetic confessions, the sometimes-random beauty and style tips that spill out of meetings are
a daily tradition. I often leave most meetings armed with a list of dieticians, beauticians, restaurants, ice cream parlors
and more, all of which are “a must try” in Cairo. The monthly cover is always the highlight of our meetings. It consumes
my mind every single month. This month’s cover was inspired by a couple of plates that I recently acquired in the U.K.
Coming back home after a blissful holiday I didn’t want to put them away with the rest of my crockery and just laid
them on my kitchen top for a couple of days. They were too beautiful, too colorful a sight and it was a reminder of a
perfect holiday. Do you ever come back from a holiday with a prized object that sums up your trip?
For June, the Cairo West team took some time away from the desk to think about the pages of the magazine. Putting
together the June issue is a campaign played out on many fronts, with scores of meetings among our team to review
story lineups and contenders. This month we bring to you a Ramadan series listing. We also report on swimming pools,
and how the use of new materials has made it easier to install on, and in many cases, more affordable. And to help you
get the most out of the outdoors, we look into landscaping to see how you can maximize the use of your garden space.
A really big cooking trend this season is everything and anything vegan, we delve into it by looking at recipes, its pros
and cons, and where to buy your fresh produce. We have plenty of thoughts on the topics of looking good and feeling
good this June. Natalia Baryshnikova swung by our office to offer her tips for staying fit, while Flow Wellness Centre
showed us baby yoga moves for our little ones. There is so much more to read this issue.
Oh, and one last thing, I hope you all have a lovely June.
