returned…….sorry for anyone expecting David
Beckham etc to pick up the column but
unfortunately for us all I’m far more accessible in
every way so nae luck chuck you shall just have to
make do and grin and bear it! Hope you are all in
fine fettle in this freezing weather and still making
it out and about, everywhere I’ve been has been
busy… full of bloody cold people but busy so
that’s a start! Sending a few words your way to get
you warmed up…..
This month there is a new night in Glasgow.
Bears Party, after running in Edinburgh for the last
three months is coming here! They will be at the
Basura Blanca Club underneath the Brunswick
Hotel in the city centre on Sat the 20th Nov from
10.30pm-2am and the event is in aid of Gay Men’s
Health so the organisers are making it free to get
in but if people could fling some money in the
bucket then it would be greatly received and wisely
used! Dance music from the eighties until the
noughties will be getting played with DJs Mishka
and DJ Corky. Not forgetting there will be a raffle
in aid of GMH so, you burly bunch of bears, go
and have some furry fun! It’s a great cause and
given the gossip from previous nights in
Edinburgh I’m sure it will be a great
night too.

I was most delighted to receive a wee
electronic mail from the eternally lovely and
infamous Miss Cheri Treiffel this month to
fill me in on the latest goings on at
Scotland’s oldest gay bar, The Waterloo.
The venue is now under new management
and the team are, as always, working hard to
keep all punters entertained! Since the
aforementioned night won’t let me in, here’s
where I intend on heading which FYI means you
should be too!!!!!!!! Hallowe’en at the bar involves
free giveaways, best costume prizes, toffee apples
and big cash prizes on the Sat 30th Oct so that’s
sounding good and on Sat 5th Nov they’re holding
a charity fundraiser with all proceeds going to the
Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in memory
of one of their regulars, Peter Macdonald who
sadly died of cancer last year. The night which will
be attended by stars from
River City will be cabaret
filled and hosted by Miss
Cheri Treiffel herself (as if
after hearing all of that
you need any more
reasons to go….). No
excuses, everyone in
attendance please! Or it
shall be a case of SEE
ME! And ye ken what
I’m like with a drink in
me!
Also coming up on
their social calendar,
the Waterloo is still as
caring as ever and
running their annual
World AIDS Day
Fundraiser so they are
looking for donations
of quality items for
their raffle and
auction. As every
man and his dog knows this
is a cause personally very close to my own heart
and surely to heavens we can all find something
worth giving! My thinking cap is on and the old
man’s credit card is getting out!
Not forgetting every Sat night from 8pm
means it’s karaoke time and fret not their notorious
and ever popular Sundays with Cheri from 5pm is
still running with the picture quiz, ‘open my box’
(oooh err!), Play Ya Cards Right and Bingo and in
Miss Treiffel’s very own words “the usual shelf of
shite”... Actually LOL’d to myself there.
Speakeasy on John Street gets busier each
time I stagger in and no wonder, the drink prices
are AMAZING, hot staff, snazzy premises and
delicious food with entertainment of
some variety on every night of
the week. I personally like to
start my weekend off on a Thu
(usually ends on Thu also…..go
figure…..) because Queenie
presents: ‘Wannabe’ with
Vodka’n’mix/Btl Miller @ £1.25,
Jagerbombs £1.95! Then DJ
Shawn Roberts & Team TLC
present
‘Femmes:Hommes:Queens’. The
biggest and best gay Thu night in
town! The weekend kicks off there!
If you haven’t been before then pop
in, it’s a varied crowd in all aspects
and I think that’s part of what
makes it such a special and
individual venue.
Unfortunately all good things
must come to an end so here it is
folks… life is short so enjoy it! Even
when it’s your round at the bar and
I’m back on the champers! Hope to
