2. TECHNICAL REPRESENTATIVE SUPPORT<br />
In support of the ground phase of the Air Force<br />
E&ST Program, Bell Aircraft Corporation has assigned<br />
technical and service representativell to Eglin<br />
AFB, Valparaiso, Florida.<br />
A proposal has been submitted. to SAC Headquarters<br />
covering contractor technical support for squadron<br />
activation and operation of the ~cal GuidanceOperator<br />
T::-ainer.<br />
D .. Handbooks<br />
1. SYNOPSIS<br />
A complete set of maintenance and overhaul handbooks<br />
is required for the end-1tt~ms of the Rascal<br />
weapon system: the missile, theAN/APW-17director<br />
aircraft guidance system, and the ground support<br />
equipment.<br />
<strong>The</strong> handbooks cover the organizational (flightline)<br />
and the depot levels of maintenance, as well as<br />
the operation and maintenance support data for these<br />
levels. Data in the handbooks for the airborne elements<br />
of the weapon system at organizational and field levels<br />
Include all necessary and recommended operating and<br />
serviCing procedures to maintain the equipment successfully.<br />
A full maintenance capability is available<br />
for airborne elements when supplement!d by the overhaul<br />
handbooks, which include information for complete<br />
repair or rebuild.<br />
<strong>The</strong> respective ma!ntenance handbooks for ground<br />
handling and test equipment contain full procedures<br />
for the appropriate level of maintenance.<br />
Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPB's) and Time<br />
Compliance Technical Orders are provided as supporting<br />
data for all weapon system elements at all<br />
maintenance levels.<br />
2. GAM-63A MISSILE<br />
All systems maintenance handbooks for the miSSile,<br />
except the Inspection Requirements Handbook and the<br />
List of Applicable Publications, have been delivered to<br />
the USAF. <strong>The</strong> remaining two technicalorderB will be<br />
delivered when requested by the Air Force. mustrated<br />
Parts Breakdowns for the missUe are scheduled for<br />
completion by 30 June 1957.<br />
3. GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT<br />
Delivery of handbooks for ground support equipment<br />
1s required 30 days prior to delivery of the<br />
related equipment. <strong>The</strong>se handbooks are being<br />
delivered ahead of schedule.<br />
Illustrated Parts Brea!~downs for ground support<br />
equipment are Bcheduled for completion by 30 ';une<br />
1957.<br />
4. AN/APW-17 DiRECTOR AIRCRAFT GUIDANCE<br />
Maintenance handbookB on the AN/APW-17 Radar<br />
Course-Directing Central have been delivered on<br />
schedule. All IPB's, except one awaiting vendor data,<br />
have been delivered on schedule.<br />
5. OVERHAUL HANDBOOKS<br />
<strong>The</strong> completion date for overhaul handbooks on the<br />
Rascal Weapon <strong>System</strong> will be determined by AMC<br />
with respect to the operational date of the contractoroperated<br />
GAM-63A Logistics Depot at Air Force<br />
Plant No. 40 (see Appendix I, FacU1ties).<br />
6. HANDBOOK RE'V1:SIONS<br />
A program has been initiated in which handbooks<br />
already delivered will be revised to reflect: (1) additional<br />
component configurations (dash numbers added<br />
to Bell drawings); and (2) changes resulting from<br />
handbook/equipment evaluation programs under way<br />
at Bell Aircraft faclUties.<br />
