Expense accounts are another important record. Associates may be reimbursed for reasonable
expenses – but only if those expenses are actually incurred by the Associate for approved
business expenses. To submit an expense: that inaccurately represents the purpose of the
expense; for meals not eaten; miles not driven; airline tickets not used; or, for any other expense
not incurred is dishonest reporting and is prohibited. Further, all client entertainment expenses
must be in compliance with Cerner’s Policies and with local, state and/or federal law, which may
limit, prohibit or restrict any gifts or entertainment provided to the client or the prospective client
(particularly if the client or prospective client is a state or federal entity). See Cerner’s Foreign
Corrupt Practices Act and Conflict of Interest Policy, all located on myCerner, for more
information.
Dishonest reporting of information to organizations and people outside Cerner also is strictly
prohibited. It could lead to civil or even criminal liability for you and Cerner. This includes not
only reporting information inaccurately, but also organizing it in a way that is intended to
mislead or misinform those who receive it. See Cerner’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and
Conflict of Interest Policy, both located on myCerner, for more information.
Records Retention
Associates are expected to become familiar with Cerner’s policies regarding Records Retention
applicable to them and to strictly adhere to those procedures as outlined in the policies.
Associates are instructed to follow all instructions they receive to “hold” documents if an
Associate is notified by the Legal Group of a subpoena or a pending, imminent or contemplated
litigation, government investigation or other official proceeding requiring documents to be held.
Failure to comply with these policies will not be tolerated by Cerner and could, in some
circumstances, result in criminal violations by the Associate.
Professional Dress
Your dress and appearance reflects on your professionalism and Cerner’s image as a competent
professional organization that can be entrusted with providing the infrastructure for the
healthcare system. The image we portray to all those who come in contact with Cerner - clients,
prospective clients, suppliers, investors, recruits and advisors - is directly impacted by the
appearance of our Associates. You should assume that any time you are on Cerner properties,
you can directly or indirectly come into contact with clients or others.
It has always been an important part of Cerner to project a consistent, professional image to our
clients. Appropriate professional business attire is very much a part of that image. We continue
to receive praise from current and potential clients and other members of the business
community because of the professionalism displayed by our Associates. Our Policies are
consistent with other professional organizations, combining appropriate casual and business
styles of dress based on the client circumstances. See the Dress and Appearance Standards
maintained on myCerner. Compliance to these standards is not optional. If you are not in
