Product On-Boarding is an integral<br />
component of <strong>Snell</strong>’s Advantage<br />
Partner Program (www.snellgroup.com/<br />
advantage). It is also a program in its own<br />
right, designed to equip you, our channel<br />
partners, with all the tools and know-how<br />
needed to succeed with <strong>Snell</strong> products.<br />
Partners who participate in Product<br />
On-Boarding for a particular product<br />
enjoy preferential discounts, which are<br />
not generally available to other partners.<br />
They also gain points towards higher<br />
accreditation levels and additional benefits<br />
in <strong>Snell</strong>’s Advantage Partner Program.<br />

your investment in <strong>Snell</strong> is recognized and<br />

In this document we describe the <strong>Vega</strong><br />
On-Boarding program, part of <strong>Snell</strong>’s<br />
Advantage Program (www.snellgroup.<br />
com/advantage). As a <strong>Snell</strong> partner<br />
you do not need to participate in the<br />
on-boarding process in order to sell <strong>Vega</strong>.<br />
However, the program equips you with all<br />
of the necessary tools to ensure that you<br />
are successful with this exciting range.<br />
Partners that particiapte in the onboarding<br />
process benefit from an<br />
additional 10% purchase discount from<br />
day one - subject to timely completion<br />
of the various requirements thereafter.<br />

<strong>Vega</strong> has been specifically designed to<br />
capture a significant proportion of the<br />
highly competitive small to medium size<br />
broadcast router market. We believe<br />
that your customers will be delighted<br />
with <strong>Vega</strong>’s unique features, benefits and<br />
ease of use. In particular, <strong>Vega</strong> is fully<br />
asymmetric with respect to I/O meaning<br />
that any of its 96 signal ports can be<br />
configured as an input or as an output. For<br />
monitoring or distribution applications, this<br />
can mean using a smaller router compared<br />
with traditional square matrices. As such<br />
the ‘up-front’ cost is significantly reduced<br />
and ROI considerably improved. <strong>Vega</strong><br />
will ensure that you are the local “go to”<br />
supplier for their router needs.<br />
Moreover, every signal port on <strong>Vega</strong> can<br />
be independently configured with Coax or<br />
Fiber interfaces using ‘SFP’ (Small Form<br />
factor Pluggable) modules. <strong>Vega</strong> provides<br />
unparalled flexibility with respect to mixed<br />
media connectivity.<br />
A simple to use ‘Configurator’ allows<br />
your customers to specify their exact<br />
requirements from a wide range of I/O and<br />
system redundancy options.<br />
<strong>Vega</strong> is delivered with all the software<br />
required to get you up and running quickly<br />
from a PC via Ethernet. The software GUI is<br />
very easy to use with an intuitive interface<br />
for set up and configuration. The primary<br />
screen is presented as a standard X-Y switch<br />
panel meaning that you’ll be making signal<br />
routes in just a matter of minutes. ‘Hard’<br />
control can be enabled from a range of<br />
1RU and 2RU control panels purchased<br />
separately.<br />

The Road to Success<br />
The <strong>Vega</strong> loan unit is configured<br />
to demonstrate all the primary<br />
capabilities and features of the<br />
whole product and <strong>Snell</strong> is offering<br />
a free unit for three months to onboarding<br />
partners.<br />
The demo unit we supply includes<br />
a redundant power supply,<br />
cross-point and controller card<br />
and comes configured as a 16<br />
x 16 router. Eight of the inputs<br />
and outputs are coaxial copper<br />
(HD BNC) and the other set of<br />
eight inputs and outputs are fiber<br />
(using standard 1310nm lasers<br />
for the outputs). All 32 ports are<br />
implemented using sixteen SFP<br />
plug-in modules. The remaining<br />
60 ports are blanked. These can<br />
easily be enabled at a later date<br />
by purchasing additional rear<br />
modules and SFP plug-ins.<br />
The on-boarding process has been designed<br />
with the tools and resources required to sell<br />
and support <strong>Vega</strong> effectively. As part of<br />
<strong>Vega</strong> On-Boarding, you will need to ensure<br />
that at least one sales person and one<br />
technical person are trained on <strong>Vega</strong>. The<br />
training comprises two courses (overleaf),<br />
which are available on-line and will take<br />
between one and two hours to complete.<br />
Many customers will want to see the<br />
remarkable capabilities of <strong>Vega</strong> As part of<br />
<strong>Vega</strong> On-Boarding, you will receive a free<br />
loan unit for three months, after which the<br />
unit will be available for purchase at a very<br />
special one-time offer price of 15,000 USD.As<br />
part of <strong>Vega</strong> On-Boarding you agree to demo<br />
this unit with at least 2-3 customer prospects<br />
per month during the loan period and to<br />
report on this activity back to <strong>Snell</strong>. You can<br />
do this by submitting the Monthly Pipeline<br />
Report form to the Advantage Program help<br />
desk. This form can be downloaded from the<br />
asset library on our partner portal at www.<br />
snellgroup.com/advantage.<br />
The scale of opportunity with <strong>Vega</strong> depends<br />
very much on your size and customer<br />
base, however with <strong>Vega</strong> we would expect<br />
that most of our partners would be able<br />
to sell several tens of units or more per<br />
year which should represent a significant<br />
revenue stream. It is not uncommon for new<br />
customer builds or expansion projects to<br />
require ten or more units of a particular type<br />
in a single order.<br />

you at the end of the 3 months to confirm<br />
whether you wish to return or purchase the<br />
demonstration unit.<br />

3) Accreditation – After three months<br />
when you have successfully completed<br />
the <strong>Vega</strong> On-Boarding process,<br />
you will be eligible for Authorized<br />
Partner accreditation status in <strong>Snell</strong>’s<br />
Advantage Program. This gives you<br />
further market differentiation and<br />
access to additional benefits. (See the<br />

partner portal for details).<br />
4) Demonstration Equipment – We are<br />
pleased to be able to loan a<br />
demonstration unit to you for three<br />
months. We simply ask to be informed<br />
of the number of demonstrations<br />
undertaken during the loan period.<br />

which you, and your team members can<br />
earn through the Advantage Program.<br />

Pricing and Discounts<br />
As part of <strong>Vega</strong> On-Boarding we<br />
are able to offer you <strong>Vega</strong> and<br />
all its options for resale at very<br />
attractive prices.<br />
All partners selling <strong>Vega</strong> will be entitled<br />
to a standard discount of 20%. By<br />
participating in the on-boarding process,<br />
you’ll earn an additional 10% discount,<br />
thereby taking you to 30% discount from<br />
day one - subject to timely completion<br />
of the various Product On-Boarding<br />
requirements thereafter. Even further<br />
discount levels can be achieved by gaining<br />
Silver or Gold accreditation through<br />
the Advantage Program (download<br />
the Advantage Calculator from the<br />
asset library at www.snellgroup.com/<br />
advantage).<br />
When you go through the on-boarding<br />
process you receive a free loan unit for 3<br />
months, after which the unit will be available<br />
for purchase at the special offer price of<br />
$15,000USD. As part of <strong>Vega</strong> On-Boarding<br />
you agree to demo this unit with at least<br />
2-3 customer prospects per month and<br />

To help you specify the right<br />
router for your customer, we have<br />
developed a new sales tool - the<br />

Deliveries for small orders (three<br />
units or less) will normally be<br />
despatched within 1-2 weeks,<br />
and a delivery date confirmation<br />
will be sent to you. For higher<br />
quantities (four units and above),<br />
a delivery date will be quoted to<br />
you.<br />

SFP Modules<br />
There may be cases when you are ordering<br />
<strong>Vega</strong> when your customer doesn’t know<br />
exactly which SFP plug-ins they may require.<br />
In addition, whilst your customer owns the<br />
product, they may need to add or change<br />
their SFP plug-in type or quantity. Well<br />
don’t worry, <strong>Snell</strong> offers a next business day<br />
despatch from our manufacturing facility on<br />
new SFP modules.<br />
So, either you can offer a high value added<br />
service and hold SFP stocks, or you can use<br />
<strong>Snell</strong>’s next business day service to support<br />
your customer needs. SFP modules can be<br />
purchased from <strong>Snell</strong> on a next business day<br />
despatch from our manufacturing facility.<br />
The minimum order quantity is 10 SFPs.<br />
Each pack of ten can be a mix of any type<br />
as specified by you (please use the SFP<br />
ordering process in the configurator for this<br />
purpose). For your convenience, should you<br />
wish to get started, we have also created<br />
two pre-configured packs, each of which<br />
contain a set of the most frequently used<br />
SFP modules. One pack contains Coaxial<br />
SFPs only and the other Fiber SFPs only.<br />

Spares<br />
<strong>Vega</strong> products are board level repairable.<br />
As such, we recommend that you hold a<br />
number of spare parts so that you can<br />
service your customers if an urgent need<br />
arises. <strong>Vega</strong> is highly configurable and so<br />
we do not offer a standard spares set. The<br />
spares level held will of course depend on<br />
the number of <strong>Vega</strong> units supplied but we<br />
recommend that you hold at least one<br />
(or more) spare power supply, crosspoint<br />
card and controller card. With respect to<br />
rear modules and SFPs, we leave it to your<br />
discretion on the types and numbers of units<br />
to hold. Please use the ‘Summary’ section<br />
in the configurator tool to produce a list and<br />
price for the spares items required.<br />
Should your customer wish to buy spares,<br />
then the same procedure should be followed<br />
also using the configurator tool which is<br />
available on the partner portal at<br />
www.snellgroup.com/advantage.<br />
Warranty<br />
<strong>Vega</strong> has a standard warranty of one year<br />
and within this period we will provide next<br />
business day despatch from factory of a<br />
replacement board or sub assembly so that<br />
your customer has minimum disruption from<br />
any failure. Faulty units or sub assemblies<br />
must be returned to our manufacturing<br />
facility such that we can analyse any<br />
failure condition. You are obliged to make<br />
sure this happens or we will charge for the<br />
replacement unit we have sent.<br />
Where an issue is software based, we will<br />
raise a case number for you within our<br />
technical support process and track regularly<br />
until you have a resolution.<br />
Customer Repairs Out of Warranty<br />
Repairs outside of the warranty period are<br />
charged at a fixed price, please contact<br />
your <strong>Snell</strong> office for an RMA and the current<br />
repair price, this service is also offered with<br />
a two week repair time from receiving the<br />
faulty unit.<br />

If we choose to purchase, we agree to keep the <strong>Vega</strong> demonstration unit for a<br />
minimum period of 12 months for customer evaluations.<br />
- We also understand that the <strong>Vega</strong> demo loan unit remains the property of<br />
<strong>Snell</strong> and that we may be invoiced in full if the demo loan unit is not<br />
returned within the agreed time frame.<br />
