<strong>Disaster</strong> Risk <strong>Management</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> for the <strong>District</strong><br />

and activities to undertake during response to the disaster.<br />
3.6.2 Key Activities to be undertaken within 6 Months<br />
Notification and establishment of <strong>District</strong> <strong>Disaster</strong> <strong>Management</strong> Authority (DDMA) by the<br />
provincial government<br />
All DDMA members identified and appointed<br />
Organize first DDMA meeting to aware the members about the DDMA set-up and its functions<br />
Hold separate orientation sitting of DDMA for each district line department and offices<br />
Organize seminars to familiarize district assembly about the DDMA functioning<br />
Conduct orientation workshops at tehsils level to clarify district risk management structure, roles<br />
and responsibilities<br />
Conduct seminars to familiarize tehsil authorities about the DDMA<br />
Conduct seminars to familiarize union councils and villages<br />
Organize orientation workshops at union councils and village levels to clarify district risk<br />
management structure, roles and responsibilities<br />
3.6.3 Activities to be undertaken Within the First Year<br />
Establish <strong>District</strong> Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) to support the DDMA in effective and<br />
timely response and communications during emergencies in the district<br />
Develop contingency plans with standard operating procedures (SOP) covering the various<br />
district risk management activities to be carried out in <strong>Kech</strong> district<br />
Hold series of workshops to prepare contingency plan as per line department based on worstcase<br />
scenarios for specific disasters affecting the district, incorporating all aspects and phases<br />
of disaster risk management based on the district disaster risk management plan purpose and<br />
activities<br />
Support the tehsils in designing their own <strong>Disaster</strong> Risk <strong>Management</strong> plans based on the district<br />
policies and procedures<br />
Facilitate union council and village administration in designing their own disaster risk<br />
management plans based on the district policies and procedures<br />
3.6.4 Anticipated Supply and Equipment Requirements<br />
Developing planning and coordination manuals<br />
Having copies of national, provincial and local ordinances as reference<br />
Organizing funds for planning workshops and meetings<br />
Organizing various materials and equipment for training sessions<br />
Equipping <strong>District</strong> Emergency Operations Center (DEOC) with:<br />
Telephone and fax facility in <strong>District</strong> Emergency Operations Center<br />
Computer with printer<br />
Tables, bulletin and monitoring boards<br />
1 VHF base station / 1 VHF repeater / one VHF handheld for every key staff<br />
Means of transport and heavy equipment like bulldozers during emergency operations<br />
