Let Justice Prevail

1. 1 Timothy 2:1-­‐2 instructs that we should pray “for kings and all those in authority.” If
the powers of darkness are allowed to work undisturbed and influence people, they
will get control over governments and people in positions of authority. Pray that evil
strongholds that control and manipulate people in the political field and positions of
authority be pulled down in the name of Jesus;
2. Pray that Christians will have a deep conviction of justice in their hearts and boldly
proclaim justice to the nations, and will rise up to pray for the nation’s leaders;
3. Ask the Lord to protect Christians who walk in the corridors of power – that they
remain steadfast and honour our God in the discharge of their duties. Pray for
Christian politicians and public servants to be wise and bold, and not act in a manner
that will compromise the rights of Christians to practice their faith freely; that they
may be able to use their positions to transform society in a manner that will glorify
His name; that God would endow them with wisdom, shrewdness, understanding and
competence beyond their natural abilities; that God would grant them boldness and
courage in their witness, preserve them unspotted and keep their eye true in the
murky processes of political wrangling;
4. Pray for the raising of righteous and moral leadership. Pray for accountability of
elected leaders to support legislation that reflects truth, justice and mercy;
5. Pray for transformation of all government administrations, at national and state
levels, and that all public servants be righteous and have a deep sense of
accountability;
6. Those in career politics and public service who conceive mischief, plot or threaten to
pervert or distort justice, or seek to asset grab, be condemned and removed. Pray for
oppressors and godless leaders that they will lose their positions of power;
7. Pray for the salvation of our nation’s leaders, for conviction of sin, that they be
reconciled to God.
