16 FEBRUARY 2012 JUSTICE SYSTEM Pray 1. For justice and righteousness, that the government be founded on truth and justice; for lawmaking to be reformed and based on love for justice; 2. For god-‐fearing judges who boldly uphold justice, especially in cases involving powerful organisations, individuals or government; Pray for our police and court systems, that none be deprived of justice, that the weak and vulnerable be protected from fraud and corruption, and to pray against any form of discrimination; 3. For our nation to pro-‐actively ratify international laws that uphold human rights – particularly for refugees, children, women; 4. For more Christians to speak up for the poor and oppressed, and be involved in advocacy for reform of the justice system, and to actively serve those directly affected by the criminal justice system -‐ caring for victims of crime, ex-‐offenders seeking to re-‐enter society, and supporting families affected by crime. Pray for the salvation of prisoners and their families so that they can be restored and reconciled; 5. For a criminal justice system to be reformed based on restorative and correctional principles instead of the existing retributive system; 6. For the abolishing of laws that are detrimental to freedom of constitutional rights, especially the right to the freedom to belief, and the freedom to speak and assemble. Pray for the abolishing of the death penalty; 7. Against evil plans to bring about cosmetic changes to repressive laws such as the Internal Security Act (ISA) with even more severe and abusive laws that are expected place issues of religion and race under detention without trial.
17 A Creative Way to Pray Create a justice zone to post up cuttings of newspaper articles or download from the internet issues of injustice and unrighteousness. Uphold our family in Christ, especially those persecuted for their unwavering faith in the Lord. Put up pictures of key leaders of the justice system and figures of authority, or place them on decks of cards. Bring these cards and cuttings with you to a quiet place where you can pray, or lay your hands over each one as you pray and think how human dignity is affected by the issue or situation. Pray for God’s healing and transformation for all people impacted, lawmakers and yourself. How he is asking you to respond to these issues? Ask Him to give you action plans to put out and share with others.
