Gusi Andrés Acosta - Biography<br />
Born in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela, on 22 of April 1984, his family moved<br />
from an early age to Bogotá where he resides since then. His love to the<br />
vallenato music came to him very early, when his grandfather Carlos<br />
Arturo Acosta, a native of Villanueva Guajira, transmitted the feeling of<br />
vallenato, sounding the songs of the greatest minstrels.<br />
Gusi, composer and musician by profession, took his first steps in music<br />
since childhood and continued to show artistic inclination throughout his<br />
teenage, participating in different bands of which was part in the Colegio<br />
Andino de Bogota. Later he studied music at the Javeriana University and<br />
advanced independently workshops of classical guitar, and he was<br />
singing with important Maestros of the music.<br />
In his career he had the opportunity to record independently and to belong<br />
to different groups. He stated his professional career as vocalist and<br />
percussionist with the band La Cosmica Charanga, a group of the<br />
Javeriana University; continued as vocalist and percussionist with Zona de<br />
Tambora (founded by Ernesto "El Teto" Ocampo, Guillermo Vives and<br />
Gilbert Martinez); as singer with La Banda de El Sitio de Santiago Cruz;<br />
and as guitarist and<br />
chorister with Fanny<br />
Lu.<br />
Today, Gusi has an<br />
alternate career as a<br />
composer. He has<br />
written songs for all<br />
albums of Gusi &<br />
Beto and also for<br />
other artists like Luis<br />
Enrique on his latest<br />
album "Soy y seré"<br />
(Al fin), and Fonseca<br />
in his latest album<br />
"Ilusión" (Baila esta<br />
última), among<br />
others.
