explores how Poly families dealt with the loss of
their loved ones.
Five years ago, the history of this country was
forever changed with the occurrence of the worst
attack on American soil in history. Through
those excruciatingly difficult days and weeks,
we found out about Poly alums, relatives, and
friends who were lost. And through that chaos
and confusion, the reality of what Poly has always
been became crystal clear. Poly is a community
that supports and cares. Poly is a community that
helps. Poly is a community that remembers.
The night’s extraordinary entertainment
included inspiring
vocal performances
by Douglas Jabara ’84,
Leah Horowitz ’97,
and Art Garfunkel,
who was accompanied
by Poly’s A Cappella
Singers for a rousing
rendition of “And
So It Goes.” The
Paul Taylor Dance
Company performed
the highly acclaimed “Promethean Fire,” hailed by
The New York Times as “simply one of the best works
choreographed by Paul Taylor.”
Leah Horowitz ‘97 Doug Jabara ‘84
The keynote speaker for the evening was Bill Feehan,
partner and co-head of Global Human Resources
Practice and executive committee member of the
board of the 9/11 United Services Group. In his
address, Feehan gave a moving tribute to his father,
a first deputy fire commissioner who lost his life
on September 11, and spoke of their mutual love
for baseball. He left the audience with words of
inspiration drawn from one of his father’s favorite
