Campus Security
Chipola College maintains campus security through an agreement with the
Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. College facilities fall within the jurisdiction
of local law enforcement officials and any criminal activity occurring on campus is
referred to campus security and/or local law enforcement officials for investigation
and prosecution.
Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act Notice
Florida law, section 775.21 (The Florida Sexual Predators Act) states in part,
“repeat sexual offenders, sexual offenders who use physical violence, and sexual
offenders who prey on children are sexual predators who present an extreme threat
to the public safety.” Florida law, section 943.0435, states in part, “The Legislature
finds that sexual offenders, especially those who have committed offenses against
minors, often pose a high risk of engaging in sexual offenses even after being released
from incarceration or commitment and that protection of the public from sexual offenders
is a paramount government interest.” Information regarding sexual predators
or offenders attending an institution of higher learning may be accessed online via
the Florida Department of Law Enforcement website at http://www3.fdle.state.fl.us/
