Generalization: Review of Long Vowels (a and e)
Long vowel sounds are those that produce the sound of the letter’s name as in make, read,
bike, boat, tune. Syllables with long vowel sounds are often marked by two vowels and
usually follow a CVCe or a VCV pattern. Open syllables with a V/CV juncture produce a
long vowel sound.
