Since the ASR is planned to be constructed in a potable aquifer, the project was placed on hold pending the results of the District's
arsenic pretreatment study at the City of Bradenton ASR project. Results from the Bradenton study were very positive and other
acceptable methods are now available. The City has resumed work on the project as of February 15, 2011. The consultant is
renewing the FDEP permit and designing the ASR system. An Administrative Order will be issued by FDEP with the permit
renewal. PBS&J (now Atkins) has completed the 100% design of the ASR. To date, $661,000 has been budgeted, of which the
District has reimbursed the City $223,711.63 for its share of design and construction of the exploratory/SZMW.
