Beaded Jewelry<br />

This class is for <strong>the</strong> serious beginning or<br />

ongoing student who has at least some<br />

experience with beading. Great opportunity<br />

to increase knowledge and skills by learning<br />

stringing and finishing techniques, design<br />

layouts, color, craftsmanship, and tool usage<br />

to make earrings, charms and necklaces.<br />

Feel free to bring old jewelry, beads, buttons,<br />

etc. with you to class. Fresh designs<br />

will always develop from combining old with<br />

new. Materials list provided at first class.<br />

Discover <strong>the</strong> fabulous world <strong>of</strong> felting. We<br />

will make three unique projects during<br />

this six-week session which will include<br />

a flower pin, a mixed fiber scarf, and a<br />

Knitting<br />

Learn <strong>the</strong> basics <strong>of</strong> knitting or brush up<br />

on your rusty skills. Working at your own<br />

pace, you will learn how to cast on, knit,<br />

purl, and cast <strong>of</strong>f. Bring a pair <strong>of</strong> knitting<br />

needles (size 8 is a good beginner size)<br />

and one skein <strong>of</strong> 4-ply worsted-weight yarn<br />

Mixed Media Painting Series<br />

Bring 5x7 canvas <strong>the</strong> first week with no<br />

basecoat. Sail Along Silvery Moon is painted<br />

in oils utilizing an old world technique <strong>of</strong> rubout<br />

painting. Second week bring a 5x7 canvas<br />

base coated with white paint. A singleblossom<br />

Zinnia in a color <strong>of</strong> your choice will<br />

be created with a surprise media. Must also<br />

bring a large hole, hand held small pencil<br />

sharpener (not electric). For <strong>the</strong> third week,<br />

The Chicken-In-The-Egg will be created<br />

using <strong>the</strong> technique <strong>of</strong> pencil-over-acrylic<br />

for a more vivid effect and a user-friendly<br />

surface. Bring your pencil sharpener from<br />

last week plus a 5x7 canvas base coated in<br />

light tan acrylic. All brushes and supplies will<br />

be provided with a $5 materials fee, payable<br />

Adult Arts & Crafts<br />

Beginning Oil Painting<br />

Designed for <strong>the</strong> absolute beginner! Many<br />

techniques will be taught in this workshop to<br />

include brush control, stroke work, blending,<br />

and glazing while completing a still life depiction<br />

<strong>of</strong> a country basket filled with deep green<br />

leaves, apples, daisies, and strawberries. All<br />

brushes and supplies will be provided with a<br />

$35 materials fee, payable at <strong>the</strong> first class.<br />

No previous painting experience needed.<br />

Oil Painting: Ahoy Matey!<br />

Two companion pieces will be completed<br />

in this class. All painting will be done simultaneously<br />

on both projects. A seaside<br />

background will be painted as a backdrop to<br />

<strong>the</strong> Sea Captains who are <strong>the</strong> main subject.<br />

By using oil paint, shape and dimension is<br />

given to <strong>the</strong> seascape and a realistic face<br />

to our wea<strong>the</strong>red captains. Students must<br />

bring two 9x12 canvases base-coated in a<br />

medium blue gray and <strong>the</strong>ir usual painting<br />

supplies. $35 materials fee, payable <strong>the</strong> first<br />

let Mary help you learn what she has experienced.<br />

If you want to relax and have fun<br />

drawing with <strong>the</strong> simplest tool <strong>of</strong> all...come<br />

join our on-going studio “fun with pencils.”<br />

We will do graphite, colored and water color<br />

pencil techniques, plus mixed media. We<br />

have lots <strong>of</strong> fun and hope you’ll consider<br />

using your un-leashed talents and join us.<br />
