My surveying experience, from 1972<br />

through 1981, was a mixture <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> private<br />

firms <strong>and</strong> the public sector in<br />

California <strong>and</strong> Alaska, including two<br />

cities — <strong>on</strong>e in California, the other in<br />

Alaska — <strong>and</strong> two seas<strong>on</strong>s with BLM-<br />

Alaska.<br />

I was a co-owner <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a surveying<br />

<strong>and</strong> soils engineering firm <strong>on</strong> the<br />

M<strong>on</strong>terey Peninsula from 1982 to<br />

1986.1 have been owner <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> L<strong>and</strong> Data<br />

Services Inc., a 100 percent surveying<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fice, from 1986 to present.<br />

My educati<strong>on</strong> includes an A.S. degree<br />

in Civil Engineering (<strong>Surveying</strong>)<br />

from M<strong>on</strong>terey Peninsula College<br />

(1975), <strong>and</strong> a B.S. in <strong>Surveying</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

Photogrammetry from California<br />

State University, Fresno (1981).<br />

1 am a member <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>CLSA</strong>, both state<br />

<strong>and</strong> local, as well as ACSM nati<strong>on</strong>al. I<br />

have previously held positi<strong>on</strong>s as<br />

<strong>CLSA</strong>'s M<strong>on</strong>terey Bay Chapter President,<br />

Secretary, Treasurer, <strong>and</strong> Chapter<br />

Representative. I currently hold a<br />

positi<strong>on</strong> in both <strong>CLSA</strong>'s Legislative<br />

Committee <strong>and</strong> <strong>CLSA</strong>'s Geographic<br />

Informati<strong>on</strong> System (GIS) Committee.<br />

I was born <strong>and</strong> raised in Washingt<strong>on</strong><br />

State, but I have resided in California<br />

since 1971. 1 began surveying in 1969,<br />

<strong>and</strong> graduated from Cahfornia State<br />

University, Fresno, in 1975 with a degree<br />

in <strong>Surveying</strong> <strong>and</strong> Photogrammetry.<br />

I am presently Survey<br />

Manager for C.D.C. Engineering Inc.<br />

in Irvine.<br />

During 1989,1 served as Vice President<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>CLSA</strong>'s Orange County Chapter,<br />

<strong>and</strong> I will be their 1990 Chapter<br />

President. I am also their Chapter<br />

Representative, <strong>and</strong> have served as<br />

such for three years. My previous<br />

positi<strong>on</strong>s at the Chapter level include<br />

Secretary <strong>and</strong> Treasurer. Other positi<strong>on</strong>s<br />

services. I have served as Secretary,<br />

President, <strong>and</strong> Chapter Representative<br />

for both Marin <strong>and</strong> S<strong>on</strong>oma<br />

County Chapters <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>CLSA</strong>. I have also<br />

served <strong>on</strong> various committees at the<br />

State Board level <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>CLSA</strong>, including<br />

the Legislative Committee, <strong>and</strong> acted<br />

as Board <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Registrati<strong>on</strong> liais<strong>on</strong> with<br />

Susan Jensen. I have held posit<strong>on</strong>s as<br />

<strong>CLSA</strong>'s 1987 Treasurer, 1988<br />

Secretary, 1989 President Elect, <strong>and</strong><br />

served as Committee Chairman for<br />

the following committees: Workshop,<br />

L<strong>and</strong> <strong>Surveying</strong> C<strong>on</strong>tract, <strong>and</strong> Brochure.<br />

In 1985, I served <strong>on</strong> the L.S.<br />

Exam Cut Off Score Committee for<br />

the State Board <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Registrati<strong>on</strong>; in<br />

1989 I chaired the L.S. Exam Item<br />

Writing Committee <strong>and</strong> served <strong>on</strong> the<br />

L.S. Exam Cut Off Score Committee.<br />

In October <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 1989,1 was appointed to<br />

the L.S./TAC <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the State Board <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Registrati<strong>on</strong>. I am a member <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the<br />

Board <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Directors <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Geysers Geothermal<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> computers by the small surveying<br />

firm. I have recently completed a<br />

seven-year process <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> complete integrati<strong>on</strong><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> boundary survey (coordinate<br />

geometry), c<strong>on</strong>trol survey (least<br />

squares network adjustment), <strong>and</strong><br />

digital photogrammetric products<br />

through the use <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Computer Aided<br />

Drafting. The final merged product is<br />

dehvered <strong>on</strong> computer disk with hard<br />

copy from a multi-pen plotter without<br />

the use <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> h<strong>and</strong> drafting or h<strong>and</strong><br />

annotati<strong>on</strong>. Currently, I am in the<br />

process <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> learning to operate <strong>and</strong><br />

program a newly installed GIS in<br />

order to link isolated local surveys<br />

into a comm<strong>on</strong> area wide database. @<br />
