Scourging the morals and religion of the Moslem<br />

peoples, Mr. L,evonian attacked the educational<br />

systems of the Moslem countries too in a haphazard<br />

and shameless way. The educational institutions<br />

of a country are the most vital and potent organisations<br />

for the building up of national character of its<br />

peoples. To ascribe the defects of Moslem character<br />

to the evil practices<br />

in the domain of education in<br />

Islam is simply an outrage on the Moslem S5'stem of<br />

education and moral training. Mr. I^evonian has<br />

cited in an ugly manner his own experiences in some<br />

Turkish schools where he too had been a teacher for<br />

some time, where he has tried to prove that the<br />

entire system of education lacks that moral emphasis<br />

which is essential for the development of a virtuous<br />

and progressive national life. L,et us first of all<br />

give below a few extracts from Mr. Levonian's book<br />

in order to explain his own point of view.<br />
