Make a difference in someone’s life, and bring smiles to everyone in the community that you touch. Hopefully these examples of great service projects can inspire your club to make an impact in your home school, and community. SNAP This year, the Governor’s Project is SNAP, which stands for Special Needs Awareness Programs. Their local Aktion Club had a bowling party that they attended and volunteered at. They also cheered the Aktion Clubbers through the bowling games. Star in Someone’s Life Division: 17 Bowling Party Division: 19A Club: Ida S Baker High School Club: Braden River High School This club volunteers at local special needs school. They assist the teachers and also play fun games with the 18
students. This service project can easily apply to your own school’s ESE program. The Eliminate Project With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. Neonatal tetanus kills one baby every nine minutes—nearly 60,000 newborn children every year. A significant number of women also die because of maternal tetanus. The end of this one disease means the beginning of better health for so many families. Bake Sale Division: 22 Club: Palmetto Ridge High School Key Clubbers baked desserts and then sold them to benefit The Eliminate Project. The Eliminate Butterfly Division: 15A Club: Lakeland Senior High School This Key Club implemented a project where whoever donates to The Eliminate Project will get a butterfly hung in their main hallway. Mini-golf Tournament Division:24B Club: Somerset Academy Chapel Trail High School This Key Club hosted a mini-golf tournament and raised over $200 for The Eliminate Project. Children’s Miracle Network Children’s Miracle Network Hospital is a nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit kids and increases the awareness of its member hospitals. Toys for Hospitalized Children Division: 3 During a DCM, this division created hand-made tutus and pet rocks for children in the local hospital. Bracelets Division: 19A 19
