REGIONAL AND DISTRICT JURIDICTION AND AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR
PARTICIPATING AGENCIES
Jurisdiction
1. The Commander Coast Guard Region (East) Region exercises jurisdiction
on the eastern seaboard for the execution of the Coast Guard Charter of duties
as per section 14 of the Indian Coast guard act 1978 from the IMBL with
Bangladesh in bay of Bengal to 180– Muttam point in the Indian Ocean upto the
EEZ of maritime states of eastern coast of India. District Headquarters in the
states of West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and union territory of
Pondicherry exercises the jurisdiction with an exception of IMBL between India
and Srilanka. Under the District Headquarters are located the shore stations
within a state at important locations along the coast to assist the District
Headquarters in the execution of the Coast Guard Charter of Duties.
