as outstanding plants for a variety of characteristics.
All are considered essentially
thornless and seedless. However, there
are reports from around the country of
occasional production of fruit and/or thorns
by several cultivars. Unusual weather
conditions seem to be the key factor in
this. When thorns or seeds are produced
in one season, the tree generally reverts
back to its normal growth habit the
following year.
