narrowly pyramidal
Foliage: Glossy
where it has survived temperatures that caused
dieback on all other P. calleryana cultivars. In the
nursery, it displays excellent vigor and form, and
seems less brittle than other cultivars. Fall color
is bright orange.
Edgewood ® Pear
Fall Color: Reddish
turning to reddish-purple in the fall.
Pyrus calleryana ‘Jaczam’
Jack ® Pear
Zone: 4
Height: 16'
Spread: 10'
Shape: Compact
upright oval
Foliage: Dark green
Fall Color: Yellow
Flower: White
Tight and upright in form, this cultivar is ideal for
narrow streets and planting beneath utility wires.
Its dwarf growth rate results in a cultivar that
matures at less than half the size typical of the
species. Its density and upright habit give the
unusual combination of a formal appearance in a
low maintenance tree.
Pyrus fauriei ‘Westwood’
Korean Sun Pear
Zone: 4
Height: 12'
Spread: 15'
Shape: Compact,
rounded
Foliage: Medium
green, fine textured
Fall Color: Red to
purple red
Flower: White
Excellent fall color and compact size are key
attributes of this selection. Although definitely
a dwarf, this cultivar grows faster with better
nursery characteristics than the parent species.
Much hardier than P. calleryana, it also has a
smaller, more rounded and shrub-like head.
Pyrus calleryana ‘Holmford’
New Bradford ® Pear
Zone: 5
glossy
Fall Color: Yellow to
orange-red
This cultivar is similar in appearance to the
well known Bradford, but it seems to be less
susceptible to storm damage.
Pyrus calleryana ‘Glen’s Form’
Chanticleer ® Pear
Zone: 4
Height: 40'
Spread: 15'
Shape: Upright,
