Sensation is a male box elder clone that features<br />

slower, more controlled growth, improved branch<br />

structure, and an outstanding display of brilliant<br />

red autumn foliage. Warren Carnefix of Fruitland<br />

Nursery discovered the original tree growing<br />

near an abandoned Idaho homestead.<br />

original tree was selected by Bill Heard from a<br />

native stand in central Iowa.<br />

Introduced as an improved seedling of<br />

Bloodgood, Crimson Prince was selected for<br />

deeper purple-red summer color, better winter<br />

hardiness and faster growth.<br />
