iPads in our Class Rooms
Last week I presented a workshop to our Teacher Aides on using our iPads. We went through the
general operation of iPads and introduced some of our apps that have been installed. Teacher Aides
may, from time to time, work with small groups or be involved in one on one learning using the
iPads. They were very excited to see the potential that iPads can have on student learning and
achievement. This week I a m presenting a workshop to our Teachers. I look forward to being able
to share the valuable and rich learning experiences that are happening in our classrooms using the
iPads.
ICT – 2D
This year in 2D, we have been using technology in the classroom through a range o f mediums.
Interactive whiteboard activities are used to enhance the learning experience, while the classroom
iPad is also used to complement student learning, specifically during maths and literacy based
activities.
This term in Media, we have been investigating how advertising can target certain audiences
through catchy titles, bright colours, appealing pictures and interesting facts. In conjunction with our
Health unit, where we have been investigating the 5 food groups, the children have used PowerPoint
to create their own healthy food advertisement. The children learnt how to insert text, change the
background colour, use the Google search engine to search for a picture and finally copy and paste
the chosen picture into the PowerPoint. It was amazing how quickly the children were able to pick
up these tasks and then proceed to help teach children around them!
Some of the fabulous work we produced is pictured below.
