Youmans and Howell Named
to Magnolia Manor’s Board
Magnolia Manor’s Board
recently welcomed two new
trustees to its 33-member
panel.
Mr. George Youmans, president of Youmans
Chevrolet in Macon, was chosen to serve on
the Board at the Trustees’ spring meeting. A
native of Macon, Youmans is a graduate of
the United States Naval Academy with a
B.S. in Engineering. He also holds a
M.B.A. from the University of
Virginia.
In addition to Magnolia Manor’s
Board of Trustees, Youmans serves
on Wesley Glen Ministries
Foundation Board, is an active member
of the Salvation Army’s advisory
board in Macon, is a trustee of the Georgia
Automobile Dealers Workers’ Compensation
Board and is past president of the Georgia
Automobile Dealers Association.
He and his wife, Anne, have three grown
children and are members of Vineville UMC.
Also joining Magnolia Manor’s Board of
Trustees is Rev. Marshall Howell, who in June
was appointed superintendent
of the Savannah District of
the United Methodist Church.
A graduate of the
Interdenominational
Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Howell began
serving in the South Georgia Annual
Conference of the UMC in 1984. Churches he
has served include Palen UMC in Savannah,
Grace UMC in Brunswick and St.
Andrews/Horse Creek in Screven
County. He has also served
appointments at Mt. Zion UMC
and the St. Marys Circuit.
At each of Howell’s appointments,
he has been actively involved
in the local community. Currently, he
serves on the United Way of Screven County
Board, Memorial Health University Medical
Center Board and is a member of the Screven
County Community Collaborative.
Howell and his wife, Frances, who is also a
United Methodist pastor, have two grown
sons. MM
“Volunteers” continued and responded to the
request.
“My heart goes out to these children and
their parents,” Clara said. “I’ve been there and
now it’s my turn to help.”
Since sewing is not one of Clara’s favorite
pastimes, she doesn’t own a sewing machine,
yet she wanted to send handmade pillowcases
to the children. So, she recruited Ann to help.
“I select the fabric, cut out the patterns and
then Ann sews the pillowcases,” said Clara as
she unfolded a recently completed colorful
batch. “Our system works out well.”
In one year, Clara has sent 11 beautifully
sewn pillowcases to Egleston to brighten children’s
beds and she has another 21 ready to be
delivered.
“I’ve always done whatever I could to help
out a child,” claimed Clara. “They hold a special
place in my heart and this is one way I can
help.”
Between Audrey, Rose and Clara, their time
spent volunteering shows children near and far
that they are loved and cared for. MM
