Since 2003, 60 students have entered BD cohorts <strong>at</strong> Auburn <strong>University</strong>, Tuskegee <strong>University</strong>,<br />
The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Alabama</strong>, UAB and The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Alabama</strong> in Huntsville. In fall 2008,<br />
Auburn <strong>University</strong> accepted 12 additional students, bringing the A<strong>LSAMP</strong> total to 72 BD students.<br />

Award.<br />
A<strong>LSAMP</strong> institutions enrolled 6,096 underrepresented minority STEM students for the 2008-<br />
2009 fall semester. During the May/June 2008 gradu<strong>at</strong>ion ceremonies, 939 under-gradu<strong>at</strong>e<br />
STEM degrees were awarded to underrepresented minorities in <strong>Alabama</strong>, an increase <strong>of</strong> 108<br />
over the previous year. Three BD students have received Ph.D. degrees with four more scheduled<br />
to earn Ph.D. degrees in 2009. Forty-four BD students are enrolled in Ph.D. degree programs<br />
n<strong>at</strong>ionwide.<br />
